The Boat

The Black Pearl is a 31-foot Ocean Master; her hull was constructed in Florida USA and she was customized in California. She is a true fishing machine, as we sacrificed fashion for function by giving up the cabin to allow for more room. In note of this, we do have all the foul weather gear if a warm tropical squall happens to pass by.

The boat is equipped with four tuna tubes to keep live aku ready to pitch to marlin and also has a huge live well for baits. It holds a large fish box off the stern and has a completely functioning marine head. The engines are 2005 twin 250 Yamaha four stroke outboards and the boat is able to hold 300 gallons of unleaded petrol.

The boat has a tuna tower with functioning controls and electronics. It is equipped with e-120 Raymarine electronics with sonar, radar and updated GPS. In addition, it also has a Furuno fish finder on top of the Raymarine. The boat has two fully functioning VHF radios and a CD player.

As far as safety precautions, we have a life raft and all US Coast Guard approved devices: life jackets, distress beacons, cell phones, portable radio, flares, etc.

Tackle

As for tackle, we have plenty of lures from Black Bart, Marlin Magic, Joe Yee, Pakula, MoldCraft, Jet Head, Yo-Zuri and several other brands.

For rods and reels we have two Shimano Tiagra T130s, two Shimano TI-80W, four Shimano TI-50W, two Shimano TLD 20, two Penn 50s, two Penn 80s, two Penn spinning gear and more to come.

We mostly use 80lb line when fishing for marlin, but if you would like to target line class records PLEASE let us know a week beforehand so that we can arrange the reels and line for you. In Samoa we don't exactly have a tackle shop nearby.

Crew

The Captain of the boat is Chris Donato and the deckhands change every four months. We rotate the deckhands to insure that we can offer our guests an experience like no other. Our deckhands are recommended from around the world, from Madeira to Costa, New Jersey to Florida, Rhode Island to Australia, New Zealand to Hawaii. The fishing grounds our crew has worked on number far and wide, as does their experience. By rotating the deckhands we are able to try different techniques and offer our guest a truly unique experience.
